The Fashion Incubator Experience and Application Process
Are you an aspiring, emerging, or established fashion designer ready to launch your career in fashion or take your career to the next level? The Cincinnati Fashion Incubator and the Dayton Fashion Week Designer Incubator are well-tailored opportunities for those seeking careers as a fashion designer and is open to individuals ages 19 & better and is broken down into (3) Designer Talk Modules Peer Groups:
- Designer Talk I, Aspiring Designers
- Designer Talk II, Emerging Designers
- Designer Talk III, Established Designers
Both incubators are broken down into the following 7 Stages:
Stage 1: Foundation Building
Stage 2: Team Building
Stage 3: Strategic Planning
Stage 4: Behind The Seams
Stage 5: The Blitz
Stage 6: The Collections
Stage 7: Continued Professional Development and Career Support System
The Application Process
No experience in fashion is required. If you're planning to Request and Invitation to participate in The Cincinnati Fashion Incubator or the Dayton Fashion Week Designer Incubator's Designer Talk Modules, then attending and participating in (DE-FI) Fashion Week September 27th-29th, 2024 is a REQUIRED precursor.
We’re (DE-FI)ng Fashion Week, with a different fashion show popping up every week that garners applause as models sashay up and down the runway, it’s easy to get caught up in the hype of lights, cameras, and action BUT the fashion show is just the tip of the iceberg and only makes up 5% of the Fashion Industry; what happens next? (DE-FI) Fashion Week is here to fill in the gap and bring you the other 95% with immersive, educational, hands-on opportunities to explore and launch your career in Fashion.
A required precursor for those interested in joining The Cincinnati Fashion Incubator or the Dayton Fashion Week Designer Incubator; (DE-FI) Fashion Week is designed to help prepare you for your time in our incubators and ultimately your success. We ensure that you are equipped with the tools, skills, resources, knowledge, access, and opportunities needed to achieve your dreams and goals in the fashion industry.
Taking place September 27th-29th, 2024, (DE-FI) Fashion Week is an invite only experience.
No experience is required, we meet you where you are and build you up where needed. Invitation Requests open March 1st, 2024, and close September 13th, 2024; Request Your Invitation Today!
Confirmed participants of (DE-FI) Fashion Week will be invited to Shoot Their Shot during A Weekend of (DE-FI)ance to participate in our incubator.
A Weekend of (DE-FI)ance gives attendees a sneak peek at Dayton Fashion Week's Runway Collections and an opportunity to meet the applicants for the 2025 Class of Dayton and Cincinnati's Fashion Incubator. Scheduled for January 17th-19th, 2025, A Weekend of (DE-FI)ance festivities will kickoff on Friday, January 17th with a curated evening of business crawls, shopping, Happy Hour, Networking, and of course fashion during Fashion Night Out!
Day 2: The 937 Street Style Festival is back! This is your day to indulge in fun and fashionable moments a galore, including:
- Immersive photoshoots for (DE-FI)ance Magazines
- The Style Boss Honorees
- A Taste of (DE-FI)ance: Where Fashion Meets Food
- Live performances by local artist
- Cool sounds brought to you by (2) of the area's top DJ's during the Silent Disco

Day 2, we'll close out A Weekend of (DE-FI)ance with an exclusive Business Club Edible Edification Brunch and giving as a part of the MLK Weekend of Service.
